Local Events in and around Broadstairs



The Broadstairs Blues Bash was a blast this February, but don't worry if you missed it, there's always a festival going on in Broadstairs! 

With Victoria Gardens (home to the Broadstairs Food Festival & Folk week) at one end of our road and a bus stop with quick links to Margate and Ramsgate, our self catering apartment is the perfect base from which to explore.  



Here's a rundown of the main festivals coming up: 

Broadstairs Food Festival - Spring and Autumn

A celebration of food and drink. Hand-picked exhibitors from Kent, and the neighbouring counties, make these free festivals landmark events on the foodies' calendar. 

Two festivals per year, one at Easter and one in Autumn. 


Margate Summer Series at Dreamland - May to September

From May to September 2024, Margate Summer Series returns to Dreamland.

Acts will include JLS, Busted, Byan Adams, Status Quo, Paloma Faith, Manic Street Preachers and Suede, IDLES and Jess Glynne. Read more in our previous blog post.


Margate Meltdown - 27th May

Margate seafront and harbour is given over for the day to motorcycles and scooters, and diverse club and trade stands.


Broadstairs Dickens Weekend, 14th - 16th June

Held annually in June, the 3 day Festival is a celebration of the life, times and novels of Charles Dickens, who famously enjoyed to holiday in Broadstairs! 


Margate Soul Festival - Fri 2nd to Sun 4th August

Margate Soul Festival is a massive date in the soul, funk and reggae music calendar.  The festival provides a combination of large-scale live shows, DJ-led carnival street parties, beachside programming and an eclectic mix of nighttime club life.


Broadstairs Folk Week, 9th - 16th August

Whether you are family looking for child-friendly events, younger generation wanting to burn off some dance energy or singers and musicians seeking out a session – Folk Week has something for you.

The festival takes place all over the town and there’s hardly a venue that isn’t bursting with song, music and dance.



Ramsgate Week, 11th - 16th August

Ramsgate Week is widely recognised as the friendly regatta and the alternative to Cowes.

You don't have to be racing to enjoy the activities, there's lots going on in and around Ramsgate Harbour throughout the week. 




Broadstairs Fireworks - Throughout the summer

Free displays on Viking Bay beach and live music in the bandstand. Dates for 2024 yet to be announced, but check the link above for the latest news.

Family Attractions in Broadstairs

  The school holidays are fast approaching, but even if it is not beach weather, here are 5 fun things to do with the family on holiday in Broadstairs this half-term. 1.   Lillyputt Mini Golf Just a few hundred metres from  our apartment  is the wonderful Lillyputt Mini Golf.  A staple of Broadstairs - it's been here for over 100 years - the heritage mini golf course is based on Arnold Palmer's original designs.  The Garden Tea Room, serving hot and cold food, as well as ice creams, is a must visit, even if you don't fancy the golf.  Open Weekends and School holidays from 10am (weather permitting). 2.  The Escapement This award-winning, immersive escape room venue takes you on an exciting journey through intricately designed adventure puzzle quests, just like Crystal Maze.  The Escapement has been voted the UK’s Best Escape experience and has over 2,500 reviews on Tripadvisor. Best for Fish The Tartar Frigate Set in an historic building overlooking the harbour, The Tartar Frigate is a traditional pub and, in our opinion, one of the best fish restaurants in Kent. Kick back with alfresco drinks by the harbour or enjoy a meal in the restaurant with stunning views of Viking Bay. Best for Pizza Posillipo Our family's favourite place for Pizza in Broadstairs. With a cosy restaurant and a garden area that overlooks Viking Bay it's a great place to enjoy a meal or pick up a take-away pizza to enjoy in the beach. Best for Fine Dining Stark The only Michelin-starred restaurant in Thanet, Stark is a modern and stylish restaurant, just stone's throw from our apartment.
